I Want to Tell You about Dave
Dave is my customer aviator.
I used to be Dave but now I’m Jeremy
Which is great, because Dave used be me, so I know him well.
Dave is 45 and has a full time job. He likes his job but he wants to earn more money and have more free time.
Dave is married and has two kids.
One day when Dave was bored, he was surfing the internet and found that it may be possible to make money online.
He found the Warrior Forum and started to buy $27 products and soon found himself stuck in a buyer pattern
Dave has bought products on
– Content curation
– Affiliate Marketing
– Offline Marketing.
– Amazon FBA
– Product Creation
– Making money using Twitter
– Facebook Ads
His wife knows about his online activities and thinks it’s all a scam. She is going along with him for now.
Dave is at the point now where he is watching webinars in the cupboard under the stairs and buying products on their credit card without telling her.
So far Dave has spent a year on this business and has not made any money, but he’s convinced it’s only a matter of time, and its just around the corner.
As soon as Dave gets up, he checks his email to see if his favorite marketers have emailed him with the latest ‘ninja product’
As Dave looks through his morning email he scrutinizes each of them making sure he doesn’t miss anything that could potentially be his big breakthrough.
The moment that will lead to him proving to his wife that it’s not all a big scam.
Then he sees the email he’s been hoping for
He opens it and scrolls through the long sales copy, all beautifully written JUST for him
All the benefits of the product tick his boxes…
Lots of bonuses that should help too …
The endless reams of testimonials solidify in his mind that this is the one that’s going to change everything.
What a great price. Not $400, not $200, only $47 if I buy in the next 5 days….
He pulls out his credit card and buys it…
He feels a rush of endorphins..
Then Dave switches the computer off and goes to work
Another course, another thing Dave feels he has to master before he STARTS his online business..
Dave has got another product on his hard disk and is now he’s even more overwhelmed
He had promised himself he would stop buying products, and start taking action.
But…..this product felt right.
Dave is getting stressed, starting to get worn out and has no results to show his wife
He’s starting to wonder if this just a pipe dream
and it might be time to call it quits.
Back in 2012 this was me.
I was Dave and I was desperate to make some money online.
I was Dave on steroids.
I once spent $1000 on a course.
This course was to create a blog that sells a niche products.
The course was good and I chose my ‘evergreen’ product based on low competition and high profit margins. I chose to sell stretch mark cream!!
Something I knew absolutely nothing about. I even pretended to be a 40 something American lady called Stacey (This is quite common online) As I figured I was more likely to get sales.
The agony of trying come up with fresh content on stretch marks and searching for new products to promote was unbearable. Then I had to gather reviews off Amazon to add to my blog.
I wasn’t in a position to test stretch mark creams myself!
But, the sales came in and I started to make money
I set up another blog selling muscle supplements. Still something I knew nothing about.
This online business was stressing me out.
I was working hard, I was buying products, but I just couldn’t connect all the dots.
And as for giving me freedom – no chance
Maybe this is you?
Then it happened.
I eventually had an “ah ha” moment.
I looked at other blogs and realized that Google competition didn’t matter if you were in for it for the long haul, to build a real online business
I started looking at my business in a different manner.
I switched from being Dave and I stepped into the role of Jeremy.
I stopped buying products I didn’t need and I started building a real business.
You’ve got to switch from being the consumer to the supplier.
You’ve got to stop littering your blog with affiliate links and start providing value.
When I see a blog full of affiliate links, it stinks of desperation and I move right on.
Here is a simple formula
Value + Consistency = Money
You’ve got to become a leader and not a follower, and build your list and provide the value on a consistent basis.
I’m biased; I think blogging is the best business model as it’s like a valuable online piece of real estate.
Have I convinced you yet.
You need to build a blog and gather email subscribers. Your subscribers are your tribe who will follow you if you do it right and buy what you recommend to them.
