Why would you use Network Marketing with Social Media as a strategy?
If you’ve had success in Network Marketing then there’s a good chance that it’s been a result of traditional tactics like attending meetups, masterminds or events.
These work great and they still do.
But social media is now here to stay, and it brings with it a never before seen opportunity to network with thousands of people from all over the world.
However, you need to do network marketing with social media the right way…
1. Get on Social Media
So you might already have a Facebook account and you’re a bit worried about using it as a prospecting tool.
Get on there – that’s my advice!
Just observe for starters. See what’s going on. If you’re new to Network Marketing, you’re probably unaware of some of the terminology.
Just use the search box to find a relevant group and join it.
Sit back and observe and feel the vibe. 🙂
2. Treat social media like you would treat an offline marketing method.
I see so many people in forums and Facebook groups spamming their latest opportunity.
It’s like going to an event wearing a billboard and shouting out to everyone in the room with a megaphone in your hand.
You wouldn’t do it offline, so don’t do it online. You’ll probably be thrown out of the group anyway.
3. Don’t focus on too many Social Media channels
You may have seen people online that appear to be everywhere.
Well more than likely they have a team and a full time social media manager.
If you’re a solopreneur, then my suggestion is to master one social media channel at a time or more than likely you’re going to do a bad job of each one and give up all together.
Facebook is still king among the social media networks and is very popular among network marketers, so my suggestion to you is to start there.
4. Use Social Media to engage, not to sell
When someone goes on to Facebook, they are not in buying mode. They are primarily there to be entertained.
So use it to provide value.
Don’t try and pitch your products, use it instead to find new prospects or to draw people to your site.
As is the case in the offline world, you need to build relationships. You can do this by “Liking” peoples posts or commenting. If you don’t then they don’t think you’re interested. Its like going to an event and sitting in the corner alone.
You don’t want people to think that you spend your whole day on social media, so don’t post too often.
Look out for people who you think will be a good fit for your opportunity.
5. Always be professional
If you’re a serious entrepreneur, then you have to be a professional and behave like one.
If someone was trying to prospect you and at the same time posting silly videos or inviting you to play Candy Crush Saga then you’re not going to take them seriously. Are you?
If you have your mom on Facebook as a friend, then it’s a good idea to let her know that you’re now a serious entrepreneur so she doesn’t embarrass you with some comments!
Be careful what you like. Remember your friends will be seeing posts you like, so take this into account.
My advice, steer away from anything that will alienate your audience – especially politics.
6. Be Friendly when you make contact
Its time to make contact.
Facebook Messenger is good for making contact with a new prospect.
Always use their first name when introducing yourself.
This makes it look like you are not cutting and pasting the same message to everyone.
Wait until you have messaged each other about three times before introducing your business.
You don’t want to be perceived as a spammer.
If they say “no” then thank them for their time and move on. There’s a good chance that they will now stalk you to see if you walk the talk and get back to you at a later date.
7. Take you time to get back
You want to give the impression you’re busy.
Successful people are always busy.
So if someone messages you, then take your time to get back to them, but not too long – less than 24 hours.
