When I first started out, one of the questions I asked myself frequently was “is the make money online niche saturated?”
Like many others, I started out on the Warrior Forum…
If you don’t know what this is, it’s an online discussion forum where you can buy make money online products cheaply, you can discuss what’s currently working or not, you can network, and you can find people who will provide services for you, like article writers and seo experts.
The Warrior Forum is also where newbies congregate, and there are thousands of them online at any point in time.
So if there are so many people trying to get into this niche, surely its totally saturated?
So is the make money online niche saturated?
As I’ve already said, there are thousands of people going online every day, looking for ways to make money online.
We are constantly having the latest make money online system shoved in our face promising us thousands per day. Is there really money to be made online?
The truth is that at least 90% of the people who enter this niche are opportunity seekers. They go from niche to niche, program to program, looking for something that’s going to make them a lot of money in as little time as possible.
The cold truth is, they never will.
But they are desperate to live the dot com lifestyle and make money while they sleep. Who isn’t?
I think the reason is, that these opportunity seekers never really understand what the “exchange of money” is about online. They are conditioned to think that as long as they buy the “right” product, then money will somehow flow into their bank account.
But online is the same as offline – you have to work to get what you want in life and to earn money you have to give a service or a product to person.
You need to realize that behind every click there is a real person like my avatar Dave. He is the kind of person who will exchange value for the service or product you offer, as long as you inspire him, entertain him and build trust with him.
So what is the secret to making money online?
You need to work and treat this like a real business.
The other ingredient is that you need to follow a system otherwise you will be work hard but run the risk of never making any money.
And once you start you need to keep going and going.
I see so money people start out online with the best intentions, and then they stop and try something else. Then they stop, try something else, and eventually give up.
Something else I see is people always in a state of preparation. They need to get all the pieces together before they start. And once they start they find that the first tactic they learned is now obsolete and has been replaced by another one. And they get stuck in this cycle of training.
The answer is to just start and figure everything else out as you go along. You don’t need to know all the pieces to start. You don’t need to know how sales funnels work yet. You certainly don’t need to buy one.
So how do you put all this together and make money online?
So now you have decided you want to go pro and build a real business, it’s time to place you flag pole in the sand and brand yourself.
In my opinion, and in the opinion of every top marketer out there, you need to build a blog and start blogging. As well as this, you need to brand yourself.
At this point you are now doing something that 90% of the people in this industry are not doing. Good eh?
The next step is to realize that you don’t need to know absolutely everything about your niche, you just need to know a bit more than the others, and you can learn the rest as you go along.
And the best way to do this is to implement the ILT method and Invest Learn Teach.
So for example you could learn a new traffic generation method such as YouTube marketing by buying a course or doing online research. When you’ve thoroughly gone through it, you can create your own version, and teach others.
Can you really do that, isn’t it plagiarism?
Absolutely not. If you go through the course, take notes, experiment for yourself and write up your findings, then that’s perfectly fine.
It’s the same thing anyone across the world has done in Higher Education.
You can then present your findings in a blog post or as a video, or you can even create your own course.
Keep going, day after day, and you will build up traction. This what I did and it’s what I continue to do, day in day out.
Keep reading to become a leader
I’ve already written about readers being leaders but I’ll quickly recap here.
You need to become a student of your niche. You will always need to be learning as the online world is continually changing.
That’s right I’m afraid. It’s a continual process. But guess what? This could be your job for the rest of your life – and its great fun 🙂
So you need to be constantly absorbing yourself in content and the industry.
I’m talking about creating a daily habit of reading: –
- Inspirational books
- Books on marketing
- Books on leadership
- Attending networking events if you can.
So I hope this blog post has helped you to see that light and understand that although the make money online niche looks saturated – it is in fact not. If you’ve been doing this a year, then you’ve already collected a lot of information to teach others.
What’s your opinion? Do you think that the make online niche is saturated? Please comment blow with your experiences and any other questions you have about this industry.
